Description
Michael A Richecoeur (1946)
For the later half of the 20th century, Michael Richecoeur has been seen as one of England’s most established printmakers. Born in Jersey, Richecoeur trained at Portsmouth College of Art, followed by his masters degree at the Royal College of Art and a fellowship at Yale University. Whilst at the RCA, he was tutored by David Hockney, Elizabeth Frink, Patrick Proctor, John Hedgecoe, and Michael Langford. His beautiful etchings, in particular his intaglios, have caught the attention of collectors worldwide. Richecoeur’s work pushes the technical boundaries of the medium, exploring and experimenting with etching. With a focus on landscape, his work invokes ideas of natural light, personal contemplation, and philosophy. The combination of light, colour, and composition creates a unique and profound harmonisation. Michael Richecoeur’s works can be found in many public and private galleries, museums, collections, and institutions around the world.
