Frames can be custom built to a variety of different styles, profiles, and finishes.
UNFINISHED
Frames can be left unfinished if desired, allowing for the perfect way to showoff the natural beauty and grain of the particular wood chosen. Unfinished wood also develops a natural patina over time. We work with a variety of woods, including oak, tulip, ash, pine, obeche, beech, and walnut.
WAXED & STAINED
Waxes and stains can add warmth and a richness to a frame, drawing out and accentuate the natural beauty of a grain. They also add a level of protection to the frame, safeguarding against discolouration, light damage, and rot.
PAINTED
Our painted finishes are either handpainted or sprayed. Painted frames allow for any colour required through a wide variety of options. From our 30 standard colours, over 130 Farrow & Ball colours, or over 200 spray colours, a perfectly suited colour can always be found. We can also custom mix colour for a perfect colour match, apply multiple colours, or apply particular effects in the process.
TEXTURED
Texturing can allow for a striking frame finish. Different textures can be applied either as a unique finish in itself or combined with other techniques such as painted, gilded, or effect finishes.
EFFECTS
We have a variety of finished effects including marbling, granites, and glitter effects. Marbling and granites can offer natural stone effects or modern variations. Glitter finishes are fun and whimsical, but can also add a more subtle beauty to a frame, especially when paired with contemporary and urban artworks. Effect finishes can be combined with a variety of other finishes or colours, allowing us to be playful with the final look.
CRAQUELURE
Craquelure effects happens naturally due to drying and ageing of paint and other surface finishes. The effect can be replicated purposefully to create beautiful frame finishes. Traditional in nature, craquelure can also be paired with contemporary profiles and colours to create a much more modern style.
YAKISUGI
Yakisugi, also known as Shou Sugi Ban, is an ancient form of timber treatment and preservation. Originally developed in Japan, it was used predominantly in architecture, but applied to framing it offers a beautiful and dramatic finish.
GILDED
Gilding has remained an established and popular finish for many centuries. The use of gilding offers a beautiful, timeless, and longterm finish. We can offer gold, silver, and platinum gilding, as well as other metals such as imitation gold, aluminium, and copper. We also incorporate our gilding into our more experimental textures to create highly unique and eye catching finishes.
PRE-FINISHED
We supply a small and carefully chosen range of pre-finished profiles in black, white, gold, and silver. Each of our pre-finished (factory finished) profiles are of the highest quality and offer convenient and economical framing options. Our range includes both contemporary and ornate styles.
